Physiotherapy and Hand Therapy Clinic and Coquitlam
Physiotherapy and Hand Therapy Center provide quality
rehabilitation services utilizing the skills of Physiotherapists,
Occupational Therapists, and Kinesiologists. We are also one of
a handful of clinics in the Lower Mainland offering the services
of Certified Hand Therapists who have advanced
training in the treatment of acute traumatic injuries to the upper
extremity (primarily focusing on upper arm, elbow, forearm, wrist,
and finger trauma).We offer rehabilitation of all injuries
(overuse or traumatic) whether they occur at work, sport, or play.

Our Physiotherapists
can help with diagnosing and assessing movement dysfunctions,
restoring mobility, alleviating pain, returning to work/sport,
providing education related to specific injuries and disease,
injury prevention, educating clients.
Our Physiotherapists are skilled in evaluating and treating joint
or muscle pain, weakness, stiffness, or swelling, sprains/strains,
tendonitis, fractures, whiplash, neck and back pain, sciatica,
osteoporosis, arthritis, women’s health – breast care.
Our
Physiotherapists also offer pre
and post surgical hip and knee rehabilitation
through individually designed exercise programs.
A
fully integrated Fall Prevention
Program is also available for those clients wishing
to address this concern.
Our
Kinesiologist manages our Active Rehabilitation Program,
which includes individually tailored exercises that take into
account an individual’s injury, functional limitations,
level of conditioning, requirements of their job and daily living
needs. Programs typically include but are not limited to flexibility,
core stability work, strengthening, cardiovascular, postural,
work simulation as well as educational components.
In addition
work specific conditioning exercises are incorporated into all
applicable programs, while functional activities are designed
to improve body mechanics that can closely mimic job demands which
better prepares an individual for a return to work. Lastly, our
Kinesiologist is also able to assist with an individual’s
sport-specific training/injury and provide guidance as a personal
trainer.
Our Certified Hand Therapists
provide the following services: immediate acute care of post-operative
and traumatic hand injuries, wound care and scar management, edema
management, individualized approach to improving range of motion
and sensibility, custom hand splints and braces, therapeutic exercises
to improve strength and endurance, patient education related to
anatomy, pathology and the patient’s role in recovery. Commonly
treated injuries include: fractures - tendon injuries -tendonitis
– amputations - nerve injuries - nerve compressions - tumors
or cysts – arthritis – burns - sprains or strains.
Splinting
& Bracing
Our Occupational Therapists
splint for the following conditions: carpal tunnel syndrome,
mallet finger, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis
joint dislocations, tendonitis, tendon repairs, fractures, ligament
sprains, and replantations, Dupuytrens, trigger finger, tennis
elbow, DeQuervains tenosynovitis, sprains and strains, complex
regional pain syndrome or CRPS (reflex sympathetic dystrophy),
nerve injuries, cumulative trauma disorder.
