Hand
Therapy Program

Our
Hand Therapy Program provides early effective treatment to help
the injured client regain maximal use of the injured arm in preparation
for a safe and effective return to work, sport or play.
We
offer the following services to hand injured clients:
Our
Staff
All of our Certified Hand Therapists
possess sound experience in dealing with upper extremity injuries
and participate in extensive, ongoing education. Each therapist
is also a registered member with the College of Physical Therapists
of BC or the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia.
We
have a mentorship program for training Physiotherapists and occupational
therapy University graduates who are interested in becoming Certified
Hand Therapists. In addition we accept several University students
each year for undergraduate training.
Our
Occupational Therapistss have in-depth experience in the fabrication
of splints and braces. All splints are custom made with concern
for individual anatomical and pathological differences and vocational
requirements. An effectively designed splint can often facilitate
the return process. For more information about splinting and bracing
go to Splinting and Bracing.
Our
staff also includes a registered Kinesiologist who is responsible
for designing and supervising exercise programs for appropriate
patients in the hand therapy program. These exercise programs
are designed with consideration for the specific injury and any
related contraindications or surgical protocols. Whenever possible,
job demands are simulated under the guidance of the Kinesiologist,
in order to assess a persons readiness for work or sport.
